We spent a night in Swaziland in a purpose built resort providing holidaymakers an 'African experience' you would envisage after watching the Michael Caine film 'Zulu'.
For the evening's entertainment, the locals dressed in traditional African garb - topless woman and men in animal thongs leaving little to the imagination! We were blessed by Witch Doctors burning herbs over an open fire, we watched traditional African dance and were encouraged to take part in a spear throwing competition!
Several daytime activities and programmes were on offer, such as craftmaking and cultural talks.
The accommodation was fabulous, with each guest having his own hut, furnished to a very high standard. The huts were luxuriously designed with African art, mosquito nets, ceiling fans, animal skins - all with a modern twist.
Although it was a bit touristy, it was a fun experience giving an insight into traditional African culture, definately worth a stopover.
