Just returned from a week stay in tunisia at the hotel tej marharba through my travel. After a six hour delay at manchester we were just glad to get there, and when we did we were pleasantly surprised. You cannot fault the hotel at all, the rooms were clean and spacious, may be a little old fashioned but overall quite good. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the main road which was a bit disappointing but you did have a good view over the city. The reception staff were friendly in fact all the staff were, waiters, cleaners (who worked extremely hard and till all hours); the hotel was classed as a 4 star but i thought it was lower than that. The food and service was excellent and the actual complex was beautiful two lovely pools indoor and outdoor which were welllooked after There was no shortage of sun beds and you had waiter service around the pool which again couldn't be faulted. Everything you needed was on the complex an english bar Rose and crown which had karaoke and also did nice snacks up till 2.30pm there were bars cafes, pizza huts souvenior shops and a shopping complex which was nicely laid out. All in all we had a lovely relaxing week. The food was quite good and catered for everyone and drinks were reasonably priced the weather was in the 90s for the full week which was great. The only bad thing i have to say is the actual place the hotel is situated in (Sousse); a major city with lots of noise and hustle and we were told by other english people who were there not to venture out at night as they didn't feel safe. We took their advice and stayed within the complex and found something to do. Theres the rose and crown english bar, the bistro bar which is open very late and within the hotel lobby theres the piano bar which is open till 2am which is very relaxing with good friendly service the hotel has some entertainment but its a bit cheesy like the resident band who did their best but ruined a few good tunes and then there was bingo a laff a minute but it was more for the over 60s. It all depends on what kind of holiday your looking for if its a week relaxing by the pool being waited on in the brilliant sunshine then go for it. Just a word of warning before i sign off after checking out at 11.30 on the morning of departure we put our luggage in the storeroom and decided to walk over the road to a souvenior shop we were out 10 mins, In the space of that 10 mins our lovely holiday turned into a nightmare we were mugged in broad daylight on a busy road, a youth came up behind me and my handbag was snatched he then jumped on the back of a motor cycle and that was it the passports, flight tickets, 2 mobile phones digital camera boyfriends wallet with all our english money everything we neede to get home was in the bag we ended up stranded in tunisia with nothing but thats another story too long to go into detail but don't ever think it cant happen to you like we did. The holiday was ruined Sousse itself is a dangerous place if the hotel complex was moved down the road to Port El kantui it would be ideal. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through the ordeal we had so just be very careful when out and about outside even in broad daylight its obviously not safe, but even though apparently this crime is a common thing no-one tells us beforehand obviously because its not good for the tourist trade.
