Holiday reviews for Paphos

We booked our transfers privately rather than with the holiday company. We used an English guy called Gerry; who has been over there for the past 5 yrs... so knows quite a bit about the local area. Would highly reccommend him to anyone else who is booking transfers. We were picked up in a massive air con'd 4x4 which was perfect as we had all our luggage. We weren't waiting arround as he was their as soon as we landed and as soon as we checked out and carried all the bags for us. Was also half the price of other companies we had looked at. YOu can also get a bus to Coral Bay from the stop opposite Debenhams for 1 Euro, which is great value as its quite far out. They run very frequently. Would reccommend the beach as it was sandy and you can go in the sea without worry. Plus there are showers and toilets which can be used for free.

The hotel is not awful, but it is not 4T+. If you are expecting a wonderful beach you will be disappointed ? apparently the beach got washed away. The food is OK if you like soup and roasts, but other things often cheap cuts (chicken wings etc); and dried up ? especially at lunch buffet. Drinks service is good with waiter service, but all inclusive drinks are all local drinks. The house wine is mostly awful. Paid significant amount extra for a superior room and very disappointed. Tiny, shabby, mouldy, unventilated bathroom; stained carpet in dated room; small unlit balcony that when sitting has very restricted view due to 6 inches wide bar. Corridor outside bedroom is badly lit with a shabby, dirty carpet. Entertainment, with just a couple of exceptions, is a combination of juvenile (competitions and prize giving every night!); and singers. The Thomson Gold staff are professional, but the material they deliver is more suited to a Butlins audience.

Have complained to Thomson who ignoring the issues I raised, kindly advised me that the hotel scores well in Customer Satisfaction Questionnaires!

I HAVE STAYED IN PAPHOS MANY TIMES.THE RESORT HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.SOME EXCELLENT HOTELS TO SUIT ANY BUDGET,OR SELF CATERING OR EVEN VILLAS TO HIRE.
THERE IS BAR STREET WITH BARS AND CLUBS IF YOU WANT IT LIVELY,BUT IT IS SET BACK FROM THE MAIN ROAD SO YOU HAVE TO LOOK FOR IT,I HAD BEEN SIX TIMES BEFORE WE CAME ACROSS IT,YOU DONT HERE ANY MUSIC FROM THE MAIN AREA SO IF YOU WANT QUIET YOU WONT BE DISTURBED.
THERE IS THE WATER PARK IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN.
