Hotel reviews for Lutins Hotel

We went for a 'cheap' hotel (compared to our usual upper-end, decadent wallowing); and picked out Les Lutins from the Neilson brochure for its reasonable price and location.

Location was fantastic - literally 1 or 2 minutes in ski boots from the main two lifts (Jandri Express & 'white eggs');.
Hotel was fairly basic, but nothing was really missing as such. It had what you need, and they had babyfoot in the bar. :-);
All in all, a bit dated, but not bad by any means.

It was B&B, and the breakfast was OK without being exciting (and it was the same every day);. Hey ho, not a biggie. Lack of evening meal is absolutely not a problem in Les Deux Alpes, as there are stacks of restaurants and take-aways.

Skiing was good, even after nearly 4 weeks without fresh snow. They do some amazing things with their piste bashers there.

The only think I can mark down for the holiday was the shocking organisation around the return airport transfer by Neilson. OK, we're all in a coach, and you need to allow a fair time to get to the airports in the big cities, but a); Neilson use Lyon airport, when Grenoble is at least an hour nearer, and b); the queueing at Lyon was dreadful. The annoying thing, to my mind, about that was that the flight was operated by Thomas Cook (i.e. Neilson); and they were in complete control of delivering the people to the airport, and they managed to **** it up somewhat. They seemed to think it was normal to expect everyone to shuffle along for 2 hours then not have enough time to get anything to eat. Sods law dictates that the plane was then late. Humph.

Still, I can't let that thing ruin the overall impression. Last year we went to the same resort but in a more expensive/nicer hotel called Le Soleuil Or, which whilst nicer (better food, Full Board, jacuzzi...);, wasn't really worth the extra ?400 net for the whole week.

I'd go back to Les Lutins for its price and location, but would probably try and do it without the package tour operator next time.
