Hotel reviews for Karmi Studios & Apartments

We stayed at these studios last June 2004 and had a brilliant holiday. We made a reservation online DIY as our original accommodation fell through and managed to book these very quickly and so cheaply. At the price of these we were not expecting anything very much but were so surprised when we arrived. We made a deposit online and paid the balance when we got there (and that was three days into our holiday, they said there was no hurry - we couldnt believe it!); The owner was lovely as was his wife and family. We had a fantastic room, newly decorated with Air.Con and TV. The shower room was lovely and clean, very modern, the living area was very spacious and had all you needed in the kitchen area. We had a balcony, no sea view at the side of the building but that was no problem. The swimming pool had been newly painted and was only at the end of our corridor. It was on a main road but it was not too noisy. The beach was about a 10-15 min through the lanes opposite and was pebbly, not very good for little children but there was a lovely cafe on the beach where you could sit and relax without any hassle from anyone. Kolymbari is not very big and does not have a lot going for it except for the lovely fish restaurants. There is a lovely fresh bakery on the cross roads and a big supermarket about a 10 min walk from the studios. Also, nearby are restaurants scattered along the road which are unassuming and welcoming. The food is very good, try the Beef and Lemon (in the big wooden restaurant);. It is not far from the main route to Elafonisi Beach ( a "must do"); and also Falasarna Beach (fantastic beach although can get a bit windy);. When we visit Elafonisi (and we have many times); I never want to come out of the water let alone go home. The Western side of Crete is beautiful and imposing and must not be missed. Paelochora on the S.W is a lovely place too. The beach is clean and sea can be a bit rough - nearest to Africa apparently and is so hot!
