This Hotel on the island of Margisziget in Budapest, is a spa hotel offering numerous spa treatments and hot spa pools. It also has a gym, aerobic classes etc,plus in and outdoor swimming pools.All kinds of massages and aromatherapy are available, and medical treatments including a dentist and cardiac clinic.Very popular with elderly germans and hungarians who come for health breaks and treatments.
The hotel itself is nothing to look at from the outside,but set in beautiful surroundings on the island of Margisziget.The interior is well decorated and modern.The receptionists could be a little friendlier and are not the most attentive I've come across, but appeared to be somewhat overworked due to understaffing.
The restaurant is buffet style including low fat alternatives. for dieters. The breakfast was quite good, with plenty of choice, cooked and continental. The coffee was undrinkable!
We didn't try the evening buffet as it didn't look very appetising, but it's sister hotel - The Grand ,has an a la carte menu ,serving a good selection of reasonably priced meals.
The health warnings about smoking seemed to have many passed hungarians by, with many areas such as the hotel lounge being very smoky and unpleasant, surprising in what is supposed to be a health spa hotel!
The bedrooms are good,spacious and clean, with balconys overlooking the Danube. Towels and bathrobes are changed everyday and sheets changed frequently. There is a minibar and room service.
The air conditioning worked quite well, but be warned if you leave the balcony door open at night, the screaching and croaking from the birds and frogs will keep you awake!
All in all the hotel was very good offering a much cheaper alternative to the health spas in England.The food could be better, but Budapest has plenty of excellent restaurants very close by.Budapest is a beautiful city with interesting places to visit, full of history and culture.
