Holiday reviews for Albufeira

The Kings Club Apartments is a small compex in a residental area. They are clean, well equipped, comfortable and a reasonable size. There is a swimming pool the size of a jacuzzi that is not worth bothering about. The apartments are about 8 minutes walk from the beach, 3 minutes from an excellent supermarket and 5 minutes from the nearest restaurant.
The main reason for going to Praia da Gale is the glorious sandy beach, its fabulous. The resort otherwise is very quiet with around 10 restaurants within a 20 minute walk, 3 bars also within this radius and very little else. If you feel energetic you can walk along the beach for just over 2 miles to the bigger resort of Armacao De Pera which was well worth a visit.
There is a bus serrvice into Albufeira 7 times a day although the last on leaves at 6 o'clock.You can get a taxi back costs about 12 Euros.
We really had a great holiday here because we enjoy the quiet life and a great beach in an area had not yet given way to full blown commercialism. We would return for another relaxing holiday again for a week. Any longer and even us would get bored.
We understand from the locals this resort is best avoided in August as the Portuguese families converge here then and the beach is over run with kids.

Praia de Gale has the most glorious beach imaginable. The golden sand stretch for nearly 3 miles and at low tide it makes a great casual walk(At high tide the going is lighly more difficult);. It is flanked by 3 excellent tavernas . The resort has limited facilities with a total of 8 restaurants(all very good especially if you enjoy fish);and a sports bar. That is it apart from one reasonable sized supermarket.

We stayed at the Brisma Mar we would highly recommend being the best equipped self catering apartments we have ever been to.The equipment included a microwave, an oven, fridge , toaster, kettle and even an iron and ironing board.It also had an excellent range of subsiduary equipment cutlery,crockery and most importantly a corkscrew!!. If we wanted to be critical there was no television and the cleaning was only done occasionly.

There is a small pool with sunbeds and the staff are very friendly.

If you want anything more lively you can get a bus into Albufeira during the day which run at irregular intervals. A taxi back before midnight costs 10 to 12 Euros. We certainly enjoyed our evening visit to Albufeira but would not want to stay there far too crowded and noisy.

For a beach lovers who wants a relaxing holiday with only a little to do we would unhesitatingly recommend Praia De Gale to anyone.If you don't enjoy the quiet life and want bars etc you would not enjoy it here.
