Playa Blanca is a resort more suited to couples who want a relaxing holiday with good restaurants but limited nightlife. Families may be better of taking a holiday in Costa Teguise which is more suited to children.there is a promenade that stretches for over six miles and is great for a walk stopping off at various places for a coffee or a beer. The Rubicon Marina is very interesting and a good place to people watch. The resort of Playa Blanca has a number of restaurants from the usual Tourist traps to real traditional Spanish diners. Our personal favourites were Don Camillo for all round choice,Slow Boat Chinese Restaurant for the best Chinese food, Los Hervideros restaurant for the most authentic and El Horno won the award for the best restaurant on holiday. if you want low key entertainment in the evening mainly 70's and 80's music try Mollys Bar, Harp Bar and The Irish Anvil.

I have just come across this site and have read the reviews for Casa Rachel and it seems obvious that some are practically identical so I wanted to add my comment.
I have also stayed there and agree that the villa is not that well equipped for a large group and it also wasn't as clean as it could have been. The pool was very small for a villa that caters for a large group. It is an average villa. It wasn't that bad but not that good either.

Casa Alessi is a charming little villa tucked away in the Los Colorados area of Playa Blanca. It is a cosy, well equipped villa with a heated pool. The pool area is very private and spacious with a pretty garden area where you can sit and while away the hours. It is a good idea to rent a car although taxis are available in town. The main resort is a short drive away and it is close to a supermarket and restaurant. A lovely place to stay.

This is my second review on behindthebrochure.com and I am happy to recommend this luxury villa to everyone!
Casa Fina is situated near to Flamingo Beach which has a supermarket and restaurants plus of course a beach. I recommend the Chinese/Steak house as the staff a wonderful, the food excellent and the views beautiful!
Casa Fina is a beautiful and very well equipped villa with a long pool with a jacuzzi incorporated into it. It has four bedrooms which are spacious and well furnished. There is a large extremely comfortable leather corner sofa which you simply merge with when you want to relax after a hard days tanning and simming! The villa had everything you need and really fits the 'luxury' bill. The furniture is high quality, as is the bedding and towels. The villa was immaculate and the pool regularly cleaned and maintained well - it is also heated which is wonderful for late night dips under the stars. The staff are wonderful too and cannot do enough to help. If you are looking for a luxury villa in the Playa Flamingo area, look no further, you really can't go wrong with this villa.

I have recently returned from a stay in Playa Blanca at the Casa Rachel villa with 5 friends. The villa was beautiful - spotlessly clean, with everything you could want including a dishwasther - so no washing up. The beds were very comfortable and towels were changed during our stay. The pool was also cleaned. We had great fun in the pool - playing volleyball and floating around on our lilos.
The owners had left a Welcome pack of drinks and tea and coffee for when we arrived and checked that we were ok on our arrival. They were extremely helpful including helping us out when our transport - resorthoppa.com - failed to turn up for a return to the airport.

Shops, bars, restaurants and the beach were a 10 min walk away. I would recommend this or its sister villa - Casa Vista del Mar to anyone and will definitely return.

I have just returned from a stay at the Casa Rachel in Playa Blanca. There were 6 of us and there was plenty of room for us all. The villa was spotless and there was a welcome pack of essentials and complimentary drinks on our arrival. The kitchen was very well equipped although the bars and restaurants were only a 10 minute stroll away as were the supermarkets. The pool was cleaned during our stay and we had great fun on the lilos and playing pool games.

The owners are a very friendly couple who live next door and are happy to be contacted in the event of a problem. I would recommend this or it's sister villa Casa Vista del Mar next door to anyone.

On a seperate note, we used resorthoppa.com for transfers - they did not know where the villa was despite emails explaining directions. That took
nearly an hour to sort out, then after putting it in writing and being told by the coach driver that we would be collected at 11.45 on departure day, we waited until noon and were told on phoning the company that we should have checked on the time which they had changed to 11 am definitely not worth using as the taxis work out about ?2 more.

I have just returned from the above named with 5 friends. We went with the intention of having fun, sunshine & relaxation. We achieved all of these & were delighted with our choice of Villa. It was clean, comfortable, spacious & well equipped. The owners were kind, helpful & accommadating. They dealt with any queries without hesitation, determined to do what they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The location was good as we only had a short walk to a choice of supermarkets & places to eat & drink. We will definitely return.

In contrast to our immense satisfaction with our accommadation, we were very disapointed with the transfers we booked & paid for prior to departure. Despite being provided with all the information requested, "Resorthoppa" kept us waiting for an hour upon arrival. The e mail they sent gave a time for the pick up for the return journey & the driver confirmed this when he dropped us off at the end of the road. (He couldn't take us up to the villa as the vehicle was a 52 seater coach even though there were only about 12 of us in total & he said the road was too narrow);! We were in the appointed place at the agreed time but after waiting 15 minutes we rang the company who said the coach had come 45 minutes earlier & there was nothing they could do! Taxis next time!!

I have returned today from a holiday at Casa Rachel along with 5 other friends. We went for a week of sun and relaxation in a lovely villa with views of the sea and that's exactly what we got. The villa was very spacious and clean with all the facilities you need. The owners live behind the villa and if you have any problems they are only too willing to sort them out for you. We had our towels changed mid-week (lovely fluffy white ones!); and the pool was also cleaned during our stay. We were 6 adults and found the pool big enough to float around in on lilos and to cool off from all that fabulous sunshine. It's a 5 minute walk down to the beach (Playa Flamingo); which has 3 supermarkets - there is a supermarket closer at the end of the main road in the Rio Playa hotel. Playa Blanca town is a further 10 - 15 minute walk along the lovely sea front promenade and then if you wanted to get a taxi back it's only 3 Euros. All in all, we had a great time and would definitely recommend both Casa Rachel and Casa Vista del Mar (next door); and will definitely be returning.

On a separate note about transfers - we used Resorthoppa and would defintely NOT recommend them. When we arrived, they didn't know where the villa was despite having been sent directions & address via email and it took 20 minutes to sort that out at the desk. We were then sent to the coach park where we waited a further 30 minutes for a driver! The return was even worse. We were told to be outside the villa at 11:45 - when at 12:00 no bus had arrived we rang the company and were told we should have been at a different place at 11:00 and it was our fault for not checking with them and there was nothing they would do about it!! Thankfully, Mike the villa owner sorted taxis out for us but was also willing to take us himself if they didn't turn up in time. To be quite honest, the cost of getting 2 taxis was only a little bit more than booking a transfer and more direct and convenient!

We go to Playa Blanca regularly and were so disappointed with this ?luxury? villa.
It is away from the main resort, which isn?t good if you don?t hire a car, as the previous tenants didn?t, they felt it was too far away from everything. It wasn?t a good place to stay if you had to walk home in the dark, as it was pitch black in the surrounding roads! We did hire a car so the position wasn?t a major issue?. the building works 6 days a week were though as it was like living on a building site, hardly ?relaxing by the pool? unless you find the sound of tools and plant relaxing! The villa was very shoddy and in need of maintenance and a good clean. The pool was tiny compared to most we have stayed at (which is many); and had a huge step, which we kept banging our legs on as it took up so much space. Three strokes from the step to the end of the pool were all I could get in, not a pool for exercise! The Jacuzzi was wonderful for a few days and then smelled like a sewer as it was inadequately sanitised, something which gave us skin/ear and throat infections? very nasty! The fridge is too small for a 4-bedroom villa and the salad drawer had no lid and it lacked shelving! There was one bin for the whole house, which was tiny, no bathroom bins, no toilet brushes, no bathroom storage for toiletries and no dressing tables. I had a large cot in my room, which should have been removed, as we didn?t want it. It was just left taking up too much space. The cupboards in my room were dirty and had dead insects inside and a mouldy old green towel was left inside under a pile of hangers. The headboards were filthy and stained, not wrought iron as in the photo but padded, dated and dirty. The air conditioning unit was caked in mould, which is also quite dangerous to health. The pillows smelled of dirty hair (all of them); despite clean pillowcases. There was rubbish left underneath the beds when we got there so it obviously hadn?t been cleaned properly and the dresser was covered in dust, there was a row of dead insects on the throw on the old settee which luckily we didn?t have to use. Every room had cracked tiles somewhere and it just felt like a cheap budget rental with a Jacuzzi thrown in to make it seem luxury. This didn?t work at all. I wouldn?t recommend this villa to anyone, it is dated, neglected and a total rip off being advertised as luxury. We have stayed in wonderful villas even when they have not been advertised as luxury they have been beautiful, well looked after, clean, luxuriously furnished and well maintained with friendly staff. This is not what you get at Casa Rachel.

Playa Blanca is more of a promenade than a resort. Its pleasant enough if you just want to relax and eat. Dont think there is much for children to do. Villa Rochelle is a five minute drive from Playa Blanca. It is on a complex with its own private heated pool. Around the pool area is a three feet wall so it didnt feel very private. It is very nicely done and very clean. Would recomend if you just want to laze about and are not bothered about privacy. Also found the Lanzarote landscape a little dull.

Sun Tropical apartments were more like a holiday camp and the food was awful. To make matters worse it was so far at the back of the town it took over 30 minutes to walk to the centre if you wanted to escape for the evenings. We could find nothing to recommend it, hi Di Hi!!

The Sun Royal apartments are a large complex about 5 minutes from the beach and 10 minutes from the town centre. The apartments themselves are a reasonable size and whilst well equipped some of the fixtures and fittings need replacing. we suppose well worn would be the best way to describe them. There is a good swimming pool but the public rooms are on the small size and limited. The bar is totally void of any atmosphere and really there is nothing to encourage you to drink there Overall the Sun Royal could do with some money be spent on it to refurbish a liitle.
The resort of Playa Blanca has grown in size incredibly over the past few years and if it gets any bigger it will lose its character. The food in the restaurant is OK but only just and we found it far better to eat in one of the vast array of restaurants in the resort. Apart from Spanish there are a number Chinese, some Mexican and a couple of Italian restaurants. Summary Playa Blanca wonderful, accommodation fair.
    We can recommend from our experience La Bochina(by the bus station); La Cuadra(excellent value-at end of shopping precinct); Brisa Mar (on seafront-expensive but great for fish); and Romantica (Upmarket and more formal.Ideal for that special occasion/meal);
Our overall opinion is Playa Blanca is a good place for a quieter holiday but would rate the Sun Royal apartments as fair.

Playa Blanca is our favourite place in Lanzaote. We go back year after year.

The Bahia Rock apartments were not really what we expected with a small pool, not very good food and expensive drinks.

I can't say that I would reccommend the Bahia Rock but it hasn't put is off Lanzarote.

We stayed at the Sun Beach Apartments for a week in March this year. These apartments are 8 minutes walk from the beach and 15 minutes from the town.

The apartments themselves are nicely furnished, well equipped, with a telly and a large balcolny. There are two good swimming pools here, low key daytime entertainment if you want it and a small supermarket on site . Also the staff are exceedingly helful and very friendly. This is our second visit here and we certainly will be returning next year.

Playa Blanca itself has 2 sandy beaches. There is a good selection of restaurant here from the cheap and cheerful to the more upmarket, some of which you need to book forehand. There are a couples of bar with a singer where the volume is not too loud. The music is very middle of the road and the songs are generally the ones you know the words to. Generally there is a good atmosphere in these bars. It is not a late resort and everything had wound down by midnight. There is also a good array of shops but nothing too flashy.

There are buses at irregular intervals that will take you to Arrecife and Puerto Del Carmen. It may a good day out.

If you like walking there is a promenade that stretches miles in both direction but make sure you take something to drink with you, as apart from the large hotels that flank the outskirts of Playa Blanca there is hardly anywhere to get a drink when taking the costal promenade.

Overall we would recommend both the appartments and the resort to anyone who wants a relaxing type holiday. You would not come here for the night life.

We went to Lanzorote in March to get some winter sunshine. It was warm but not hot enough to sit on the beach all day. When the wind was blowing we needed a pullover in the evening.

Th Sun Beach apartrments are 8 minutes stoll from the beach and 17 minutes from the centre. They are extremey comfortable, well equipped and clean. There is a small supermarket on site, two excellent swimming pools and low key entertainment is arranged during the day if you want it. The staff are very efficient, exceedingly helpful and friendly.

The resort of Playa Blanca has two beach,a good variety of restaurants- from the cheap and cheerful to the up market and expensive. Some of the better ones you have to book as they get full. There are a few bars with live middle of the road holiday music and a number of shops. Mainly 60s/70s/80s and early 90s music.

There is also an irregular bus service to Arricife and Puerto Del Carmen and we did this one day. Make sure you don't miss the return bus or you could be stuck.

We enjoy walking and you can walk for miles in both direction along the promenade. Make sure you take some drinks with you because there is hardly anywhere along this section where you can buy a drink unless you go into one of the expensive hotels.

We found Playa Blanca and the Sun Apartments ideally suited us and we expect to return again next year.

If you are booking a holiday from a brochure be aware some of the big hotels are sited some distance from the centre and are not within walking distance. This is fine if you want your holiday to be hotel based but not if you want sample the flavour of Playa Blanca which has still retained some of its original charm.
