I found other reviews useful before we went so I thought i'd write one to help others too.

We (Me, my partner and our 9 year old son); flew to Lanzarote on the 24th March with Thomas Cook, who delayed us for 7 hours at Gatwick which was unpleasant, but we coped. We'd hoped to of had experienced some afternoon sunshine with the original arrival time of 4pm, but we didn't arrive until after 11pm! The hotel couldn't offer us any means of getting something to eat and the shops were also closed, so we just headed to bed! The rooms were nice. It's a shame that our son had to sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge, but it didn't seem to bother him. The first few days of the holiday were lovely, great weather and everyone we spoke to had said we had brought a heatwave with us as the canaries are known for being over-cast and very windy at times. We chilled around the pools, which were absolutely freezing and they stayed that way, hardly anyone swam for longer than 5 minutes!

As we were half board, we ate in the restaurant on site in the morning (Mirador); which provided a great choice and then in the El Boulevard restaurant which is connected to the complex in the evenings as I had read the food and atmosphere were better than the on-site restaurant. We had to book the day before for the following evening though. Which was the same for both restaurants. The choices of food and drinks were all included in the half board deal and we were always very happy.

The third day into the holiday the weather started turning, still hot, but over-cast and windy, to the point where our son slept in our room on the floor as the wind howled through the patio doors into the front room where he was sleeping which he didn't like.

What else...well we hired a car when the weather started to turn and got to see Timanfaya, which takes a morning or an afternoon. We drove there in a hire car and then jumped on one of the many coaches that tour every 15 mins. Amazing views and landscape. We also went go-karting, which was great and we also found an amazing little beach where the locals go, which is to the West of Teguise, just by the power station. It's a great cove and perfect for snorkelling. If hiring a car, you will get loast! Great roads to drive on but not enough signs!

The reviews that talk about the cats are dead right, there are lots of them about the complex. We named the cat who took a shining to us and our apartment (1246); Bob. He was a black and white cat. Be careful though as they are wild and can get a bit feisty. If you like cats though, in reception there is a cat and 5 new born kittens living in a wooden box seat thing at the moment -very sweet.

Anything else....well the blocks 1 & 2 are best to stay in, as I had read also, as they have the sun in their balconies all day. Perfect for sunbathing with no wind and complete privacy too!

Oh and beware of Thomas Cook, we were delayed another 4 hours on the way home!

So summing up, food - great, accomodation - good, entertainment - good. It's a big world out there though and the holiday was good and relaxing, which is what we wanted but the wind is slightly off-putting and the complex, even though it provided us with all we needed, was not 'amazing' to make me want to return. Still wish I was on holiday though!
