On arrival at hhis establishment it looked a bit like the Police headquarters in some backward African state, Inside was just as bleek although the reception staff seemed friendly and helpful. We were allocated a very poor room at the back of the hotel looking out at street level to a pathway were black drug pushers and prostitutes with their pimps plyed their trade. The room was quite large but there was an unmastakeable smell of human urine, The bathroom/toilet had a large hole in the roof, On our first night we noticed a shadowy figure skulking on the outside fire escape and when we challanged him we received a torrent of abuse (In Spanish); and rude sexist finger gestures, On complaining to the then reception personel an English man called Ben we were informed the shadowy person was head of security and lived on the premisses as he was a founder owner, However this statement was diluted to he is the odd job man who has been given a room in return for doing menial tasks on the complex. Thompsons rep informed me he would only watch he was harmless and would not touch. Creepy we think. However several persons reported money and a camera missing from their rooms even though there was no forced entry so it is assumed that a master electronic key card has found its way into someones hands. Hotel management could not be less interested and told us when we complained of the state of the room, the vile smell and being watched by the old man "If you don't like it here just leave - We don't care" and anyway Mind your own business" Thompsons rep agreed but pointed out it any move would be at our own expense. We found this hotel the worst we have experienced anywhere in Spain in 30 years holidaying and the 18-30s arriving over the summer should be very careful, Not only of Muggers and pick pockets outside but threats from within
