We spent a week in Jamaica in April 2008. The hotel is huge, with several pools and lots of bars and restaurants. It was our wedding anniversary so we were upgraded to a beachfront cabana, which was right on the beach with a lovely terrace area with 2 sunbeds. We were glad we were upgraded as we heard negative comments about the standard rooms, which are in 2 big tower blocks.
The beach was beautiful, and we could always get a lounger. There were security guards at the end of the beach to stop non-residents coming onto the beach, which meant we weren?t bothered by people selling things. The pool areas were a lot more busy and noisy so we stayed on the beach.
There was a main buffet restaurant and several a la carte restaurants, which you had to queue to book at 7am, as they were very popular. The buffet was ok, but there wasn?t loads of choice if you got there late.
We had an enjoyable stay at this hotel, but a week is enough, as the food and entertainment became quite repetitive. I wouldn?t describe it as a luxury hotel (and we were in the best room class); and definitely not good value for money.
